Over the weekend I tried the AGO Vaporizer Kit, which was so kindly given to us by NY Vape Shop! I was excited to try this because I don't have much experience with dry herb vaporizers, and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. This particular kit has interchangeable pieces available for purchase, however, the one I am reviewing for you today is the dry herb chamber. The version of this piece I used comes at a retail price of $29.99 and has several colors available.

If you are a beginner at assembling vape kits like I am, I advise that you look at the diagram on the instruction manual - it's very helpful and even includes a section on troubleshooting if you run into any issues. Be cautious when opening your kit, there are a few small pieces that can easily fall out during assembly.

First, you'll want to put your white ceramic filter into the rubber mouthpiece. Then your mesh filter screen will go in between your chamber connector and the rubber mouthpiece. If you choose to use your spring to push down the herb, you'll want to place that in between your mesh screen and the chamber connector. If this seems like a lot of work, don't worry - you only need to do the above steps once in order to use your piece.

Once you've charged your battery and assembled the top part of your rig, you will need to screw the battery on to your ceramic heating chamber. The heating chamber is where you'll be placing your dry herb.

Getting Started

Press the power button five times to turn on the battery once you’ve charged it up. There is an LCD screen that will display your puff count (how many times you press the button) and a battery meter that displays the remaining juice in your battery. Grind your weed up finely and pack it lightly, it will not work if you overfill the chamber or load large nugs into the chamber.

The silicon container that comes with the kit will come in handy if you're on-the-go, you can use this to store your pre-ground weed if you do not want to travel with a grinder on your person. You must press and hold the power button to heat up the coil inside the heating chamber. The heating chamber will be directly touching your herb, leading to combustion.

If you wish to avoid combustion, you may add a glass screen or wax screen to achieve true vapor. However, neither of those attachments come with the rig that I used but they can be purchased separately. As mentioned above, there is a spring that is used to push down your dry herb into the heating chamber, but the spring is not necessary for use.  

How to Use

It took me a while to figure out how to get this piece to drag. The chamber where you put your flower gets easily clogged and will need to be stirred often, but the kit does come with a tool to help you do this. You may also soak your filter and rubber mouthpiece in water if you keep dealing with clogged airways. Once I held down the power button to heat up the chamber, I noticed that sometimes a little smoke will begin to leak out of the piece. When this happened, I found that this was a good sign that I was going to get a successful drag. Unless you're a pro, you will need to fiddle around with this piece for a while to get the hang of it. Also please note that you will need to drag the piece slowly for it to smoke properly.  

My Verdict

As mentioned above, there are a few different attachments for this rig. In my opinion, the dry herb tank attachment (which is the one I reviewed for you here today) falls a bit short. It seems to a lot of work for little reward, and the heating chamber doesn't hold very much weed. For smoking at home, I would rather just use a more simple piece such as a glass pipe or bong. 

However, there are certain conditions where I would use this piece. For example, this rig is good for on-the-go smoking because it’s more discreet than using a lighter to heat your pipe and the kit does come with a carrying case and silicone container to hold your flower. This piece may also come in handy if you don't want to smoke all of your bowl at once, the flower sits in your heating chamber until you want to use it.

This could be useful if you wanted to take a quick drag and throw it back in your purse or backpack, it won't make a mess like if you were to do that with a pipe. Another situation I would use this is in windy, outdoor conditions because it does not require the use of a lighter. Overall, I would probably give the AGO Vaporizer Kit about 5/10 stars. However this piece is not too pricey, so you won’t lose an arm and a leg if you end up purchasing it and not liking it.
